summer 2017.

this summer was so good to us. after the madness of my first year of school, having a less busy schedule and more time to spend as a family was ah-mazing. i did take three classes, but no internship left lots of free time. plus the three classes i took were electives- sex therapy, treating trauma, and creative and expressive therapies- which are my jams, so classes made summer even better.

how insane is it that i'm doing a photo dump from the same season we are currently in??? anything to avoid doing homework. (last week i started doing homework but after 20 mins stopped to color code my closet. i don't color code my closet regularly, it just seemed way more important at the time than homework that was due the next day. it's fine.)

okay, you can't tell unless you look closely, but remy has some carabiners
hooked to his jeans. he was climbing this rock outside and pretending to clip the rope
into the carabiners. ohhhhhh pretty adorable.

those cherry chocolate creamies, they kill my willpower.
we ate a lot of sweets on the porch all summer.

remy played t-ball with his cousin kohen. he wasn't into the sport, but
he loved playing with kohen during the games.

loved his pool trunks this year.
thanks target.

my brother and his wife bought a house in daybreak this summer!
this was a day we took treats over to everyone painting their house and
hung out on the front lawn.

more t-ball.
not gonna lie, i hated those games.
begging remy to play, sweating in the 100 degree heat.

so many pool days. i definitely increased my skin
cancer risk by 100000000 this summer.

food truck thursdays, taking our money and clogging our arteries.

travis though.

so many walks and runs around the lake.
i love living by a body of water, even a
small man made one.

this spring/summer we put in our backyard!
and i found an awesome deal on a patio set we'd been
saving up for. we've loved having this bonus outdoor space
this summer and spent many a morning/afternoon/evening here.

attended the annual summer solstice party
one of travis's firefighter friend throws.

remy may have had some blue candy.

he always rents out an amazing taco truck
and treats all the guests. this beef head taco was
not my favorite though. had to try it, but never again.

a sunset from the backyard.

remy at the boat dock. we did tons of kayaking and
stand up paddle boarding all summer.

remy doing yoga with me on the patio.

this beauty was parked down at the lake one night.
all the heart eyes.

reading in the nook before bed. travis and i
split up all parenting duties 50/50 and reading
before bed is one of my favorites.

visiting dad at the station.

this poor kid is always bruised up from
climbing, running, jumping, all the 4 year old things.

giving a presentation in my sex therapy class about polyamory.
one of my friends was sweet to snap this picture.

swinging with oma.

climbing papa's cherry tree.

freakin' t-ball.

his favorite part of the whole season, getting that damn medal.

playing at the lake.

travis took him camping a couple weekends to scout for
deer and ride the 4 wheelers. i enjoyed some beautifully quiet alone
time in my own house.

went climbing with my mom and sara on the 3rd of july.

no, i didn't spray tan my arms and back. too much sunshine, not enough sunscreen.

the night before the 4th, my grandparents always have a
party before the eagle wood golf course fireworks.

this year, a handful of paragliders and wing suiters jumped out of helicopters
and landed in the pond. remy immediately told me he wants to
jump out of helicopters when he grows up.

poor kid fell off of a chair at costco earlier in the day and
hit the back of his head. really hard. we watched him close all
night, and he threw on the drive home from my grandparents'.
we stopped at primary children's to make sure he was okay.
they decided he had a small concussion.
travis and i both cried on the 3am drive home from the
hospital. being a parent, man.

so our 4th of july was pretty low key, but we still got some
fireworks in there.

how gross is the huge spider we found on the sidewalk next to our house.
and how crazy is travis for putting his hand so close. shudder.

i love climbing with this guy.

model status.

liana had her 3rd perfect baby girl this summer!

we took my brother chad out to porcupine for his birthday.

i love living and being so close with all my siblings.
we spent this whole dinner laughing and reminiscing.

and this giant tiramisu.

dat lake tho.

two new babies were born on travis's side this summer,
and remy apparently noticed.

model status.

we took trax downtown to a bee's game with rem.

he liked watching baseball about as much
as he liked playing baseball.

but the train ride around the field was fun.

i've been having some ridiculous body image issues this summer.
probably should write a whole post about this.

remy currently has an obsession with both legos and dinosaurs.
his imagination is limitless and i love it so much.

i did the thing i do where i add blonde to my hair.

one of the merciful times he fell asleep playing
when he needed a nap.
oh naps, how i miss thee.

some of my classmates and i after an expressive therapy class
held at this awesome yoga studio. trauma sensitive yoga
and dance movement therapy. creative therapies are the best!

we even planted a garden this summer! so far, only the tomatoes and
onions have really thrived, but we'll try again next year.
why did my spinach die???

one of my social work besties!
last day of summer semester!!!
(and yours truly earned a 4.0.)

always the sparklers.

this cat's name is steven, named by remy.
he goes everywhere with us, sleeps in remy's bed.
steven is filthy, but steven is family.

ohhhhhh travis, you hot hot man body.

here's a pepper we grew.
i forgot what kind of pepper it was,
so i gingerly licked the top and my tongue was.
on fire.
for at least at hour.

lunges with my workout pal.

deep in thought while deep in sleep.
is there anything more sweet than your sleeping child.
and why is it that the second they wake up, we
are completely exhausted.

tour de utah rode through daybreak, so we headed down after
breakfast to watch. family picture fail.

there were like, a thousand bikes.

didn't have many pool days with liana and her
crew this summer, but made the most of the ones we did.

mama of three, kicking ass and taking names.

have there been enough beautiful photos of the lake yet.

yeah...

started using the library regularly. mostly because i finally paid my fine.

remy finally showed some interest in holding
one of the new babies. he loved her!

pool with oma and sara!

speaking of kicking ass and taking names.

remy and i went to the county fair one night. he loved the rides.
i loved seeing the animals- including a camel!

summer nights can't be beat in my books.

east canyon with my new birthday present!

standard.

1, 2, 3, "awhhhhhh!"

ghostly. baby brother zane.
his tinder profile says "will fax nudes"

SUP YOGIS

we also took all the grandkids (except one brand new babe)
on trax to the city creek mall downtown.

had some amazing red iguana.
mango mole for the win!

remy played pretty hard.

cousins.

oh man, tried this place in west valley called shirokuma.
taiwanese shave ice.
sooooo good.

and a chocolate chip bubble waffle.

remy played his second season of soccer this season.
he killed! scored at least 1 goal every game, and usually 3-5.

i even got to coach his team on the last day.
honestly i'll probably offer to coach next summer.
i love the littles.

remy with one of his friends (who is a quadruplet!)
at my mom's neighborhood children's parade.
the parade ended at a park and then firefighters
came and prayed the kids down.

we took rem mini golfing for his first time.
he loved it. my favorite part was that he cheered
us on the entire time. "you can do it mom!"

reconnected with some dear childhood friends and
enjoyed dinner at mi la cai. we all have babies now and are somewhat
grown ups.

had to squeeze in some biking with the dad. i think i'm in
decent physical shape until i go mountain biking and then i'm dead.
fun ride up corner canyon, but i fell flew off the bike multiple
times on the ride down.

not a shabby sunrise.

busy and fun filled summer with my favorite people.
