hiking mt. timp

i guess it's been a few months, but when ting was staying with us in august, we were invited to hike mt. timpanogos with my friend roxanne for her birthday. the night before the hike, ting convinced me to go and i found a last minute babysitter. (thanks grandma julie!) we were kind of expecting a 4 or 5 hour hike, and only packed light clothing, because it was hot in the valley and we were dumb. luckily ting packed a shit ton of snacks, because i didn't. (sorry about eating all your gummibears there ting.)

we woke up at the crack of dawn, after going to bed really really late. seriously, your late twenties are not as forgiving as your early twenties. i'm soooooo old. we drove to murray really fast, like i may have made it there in 9 minutes... to drop remy off, and then we raced down to provo. stopped for coffee though.

look at that gorgeous sunrise!

we got there, waited around for our group, figured they left us in the dust because we were a few minutes late, waited for ting to pee 120000 times, and started up the mountain. well, the first mountain.

turns out mt timp is actually a really long hike.
we hiked 15 miles. oops.

i have to admit, we didn't make it to the top. it was REALLY cold and we were already way later than i thought we would be, needed to make it home to the babysitter. so lame, we only made it this high. (it was still really high. we could see the top from here.)

oh and then we ran into our group coming up the mountain as we were coming down!

amazingly beautiful and had a great time talking with ting about serious things, silly things, waiting for him to pee another 200000 times. love you ting.

thanks for the photo ting

this is how we felt when we finally got down.
and then we had to walk another mile to our car.
of course we drove straight to mi la cai, my favorite vietnamese place, and gorged ourselves on egg rolls, curry, and flat noodles.

our legs were jelly the rest of the weekend, but it was glorious to go have an outdoor adventure with my dear friend.

and then remy and i got milkshakes, something i do maybe three times a year! neither of us could finish, which was okay.

glorious day, and it gave me the courage to register for my half marathon. (which was the next saturday, oops, cut that one close.)

never pass up the chance to do anything! even if it means losing sleep and making yourself sick.

xo.
