haircut, 24th of july, silver lake.

time for more super interesting phone pictures of my life.

remy got a haircut! like more than just a trim. he looks like such a little adult. a very hipster adult, which i love.

enjoying our backyard with creamies, probably too often. at least they are the yogurt kind.

oh that little face of his.

remy never sleeps in my bed, but sometimes when he is almost ready for his nap he likes to pretend he is sleeping. he gathers up his binki and all his stuffed animals and turns off the lights and asks me to tuck him in.

climbing with my mom, who is so badass.

the 24th of july we had our annual party and fireworks, though it was very scaled down this year. travis worked, so i didn't feel like feeding 30 people like last year. we just had a simple ice cream bar, but it was fun.  the panoramic view of the valley from our driveway is beautiful, especially with hundreds of fireworks exploding.

remy is always finding my lipsticks.

dinner on the patio.
this is another really simple recipe, something i threw together in my college days at least once a week.

cook cubed chicken breasts in a pan with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper, cumin, red pepper, paprika, garlic, onion, lemon pepper.
remove the chicken from the pan, replace it with a tortilla, and cover the tortilla with cheese. then add the chicken and black beans, fold the tortilla in half and alternate flipping it until everything is hot and melty inside.
add tomato, salsa, avocado, peppers, or whatever you have in the fridge. squeeze fresh lime juice inside and enjoy!

after dinner we headed up to big cottonwood canyon and passed by this large plume of smoke, which we later learned was an elementary school that caught fire. luckily no one was inside when it happened.

we enjoyed beautiful scenery and cooler weather. sadly didn't see any moose this time.

it's always a good time with the three of us.

here's another shot of rem's cute new hair.

and sara and i at sunday dinner the next day. she is the perfect combo of sassy and sweet and i love having her in the family.

life is good. xo.
